4 days to go!

I finally got my flight details on Monday, thank goodness. My flight leaves late Sunday afternoon from LAX, and its a red-eye straight shot to London Heathrow. I guess I really do have a job! I arrive a day early, so I'll be in London overnight, which is nice. Its always great to get a good night's sleep before joining a ship to recover a bit from the travel. I'm in the process of packing, amid anxiety dreams of forgetting to pack something or loosing my luggage somewhere. :-) I have to be all packed by Thursday night, since I'm going away over the weekend with family and won't have time to get it done then. Friday we get to see Paul McCartney in Las Vegas! My parents and Tyler and his wife Allison are going, and it will be great to spend some time with them. We come back Saturday just in time for my grandparent's 60th anniversary dinner, what an amazing achievement for them, and what a great example for us to follow. We'll get home late Saturday night, then drive down to LAX the next day. Its all going to happen very quickly. I'll be on a plane before I know it. I'm excited about all the new things awaiting me. I'll update this as quickly as I can to let you know how it is on the Queen Elizabeth. I'm praying that I'll be able to relax into it quickly, and that I will soon find some good friends. Here goes nothing!

Hume Lake and Grass Valley

I spent Memorial Day weekend on a road trip with my parents up to Northern California. We drove all day Thursday up to Grass Valley, CA, north of Sacramento. We spent a couple of nights with my grandpa on my mom's side, Grandpa Kopecky, and my lola Antonia. It was great to see my grandpa again, since he lives up north and I've been away it has been a while. He's 87 now. One of the highlights for me was hearing him talk about World War II, when he flew in bomber planes in Europe. He kept amazing journal details of all of his missions, which were so neat to look at.

Leaving Grass Valley, we drove down to Hume Lake, CA, where one of my best friends, Sarah Tuch, works in the video productions department. It was so wonderful to spend a couple of days with her and learn about her job and life there. And guess what! It SNOWED!!! I couldn't believe it! The flakes were the big beautiful ones...my favorite kind. :-) It snowed almost all day Saturday and the trees looked so beautiful.

We drove back down to Southern California yesterday, all of us feeling ready to not drive for a while. :-) We probably logged about 20 hours total.

Everything is in place with my agent for my upcoming contract. Now I'm just waiting on flight details, which I'm told should be here in the next day or two. Two weeks from today I'll already be finished with my first day on board the QE. Yikes! Freaking out a little....
