Today I took a lot of time to input where I'll be during my upcoming contract onto a google calendar. The link to it is to the left of my blog page, under "Where's Andrea Today?" Its pretty neat - if at any point you want to see where I actually am on any given day, just click there and it'll show ya. Pretty nifty.
Now that I mention it I'm not sure if I posted about my next contract, so in case I didn't here are the details. I'll be working for the Cunard Line, on the Queen Elizabeth. Its a brand new ship (launched in October 2010), the newest I've ever been on by about 10 years. I'm interested to see how the ship will be different than others as a result. I've never worked for Cunard before, so there will certainly be some new things to learn. I do get paid more (yay!) and the contracts are 5 months, instead of the just-under-7-months that Royal requires. I'm very excited about the itinerary, we really go all over the place, mostly in Europe. I'm especially excited about seeing Croatia for the first time, Paris, Venice, and Israel once at the very end. Other highlights will be an overnight in Quebec City (hoping to catch up with an old friend), seeing more of Norway, and a voyage around the British Isles to see Scotland for the first time, and other ports around England, including Liverpool. Anyway I won't get too much into detail, if you want to look closer at the itinerary just click the link I mentioned earlier, and you can look around at the coming months. Very exciting places!
Tomorrow I have to get a special maritime-law approved medical exam done in L.A. Kindof a pain to get out to San Pedro....but necessary to work for Cunard. After that I'll really be on my way to being officially employed! Flight details should soon follow my completion of those forms. Its happening! Also - my grandparents have decided to come cruise with me on my ship in July! They have never cruised with me before, despite being seasoned cruisers. I am glad they will get to see me work, especially since they were....dare I say....instrumental....in the purchase of my trombones. Thanks again, Grandma and Grandpa! Looking forward to having you on board with me!
